This new system will release on Tuesday the 24th of March. The information provided in this article about how to set up your ads under the new system will not work as we will only enable new featured ad creation when the new system releases.

Featured resource ads are a way to promote your paid resources to the top of category pages, search results, and filter combinations on BuiltByBit. You set a percentage of each sale that you're willing to pay as a fee, and your resource gets boosted into featured placement spots where more buyers will see it. If your featured placement doesn't lead to a sale, you pay nothing.

This system replaces our previous auction-based Ads Manager for supported categories. Rather than bidding credits each week for a fixed slot, you now set a single percentage and your resource is continuously promoted with no balance to manage, no auctions to monitor, no upfront cost. If you previously used the old Ads Manager for featured resources, see the Transitioning from the old system section below.

Beta note: These new featured resource ads are currently available in Roblox categories only. We're launching it here first so we can learn from how creators use it and make improvements before expanding to other platforms. If it goes well we'll roll it out more broadly over time.

How it works

The concept is straightforward: you tell us what percentage of each sale you're willing to pay when that sale comes through a featured placement. We handle the rest by placing your resource in promoted spots, tracking whether buyers who click on your featured placement go on to make a purchase, and collecting the fee automatically from the sale. You don't need to deposit credits, monitor an auction, or do anything after the initial setup.

Here's the full flow:

  1. You go to any of your paid resources in a supported category, open the Payment tab, and enable featured placement
  2. You set your rate. A minimum of 3% is required to feature your resource
  3. Your resource immediately starts appearing in featured spots across category pages, search results, and filter combinations
  4. When a buyer clicks on your featured placement and subsequently purchases your resource, we deduct your advertising fee from the sale alongside the standard platform fee
  5. If nobody buys through your featured placement, you pay $0

That's it. There's no weekly cycle, no auction to win, no slot to lose. Your resource stays featured for as long as you have it enabled.

๐Ÿšจ Featured ads donโ€™t affect your organic ranking

This is important, so we want to be very clear about it: enabling or disabling featured placement has absolutely zero impact on your resource's position in our Relevance Algorithm. Your organic ranking is completely separate from featured ads. Enabling a featured ad does not boost your organic position. Disabling a featured ad does not penalise it. Not using featured ads at all has no negative effect on where your resource shows up in regular results.

Featured placements are displayed in their own dedicated spots on category pages, search results, and filter pages. They are visually distinct from organic results. When a buyer scrolls past the featured section, the regular results below are ordered purely by the Relevance Algorithm, the same as they would be if featured ads didn't exist.

We built it this way deliberately. We don't think creators should ever feel pressured to pay for advertising just to maintain their existing organic visibility. Featured ads are a way to get additional exposure on top of what you already earn organically, not a requirement to keep what you have.
