The advertising fee

When a purchase is attributed to your featured placement, we collect an advertising fee based on the rate you set. This fee is charged alongside the standard platform fee, not instead of it.

Example: You sell a $40 resource with your featured rate set to 10%.

• Buyer pays $40
• Gateway fee is deducted as usual
• BuiltByBit takes $3.96 as the standard 9.9% platform fee
• BuiltByBit takes $4.00 as the 10% advertising fee
• You receive the remainder

If the same buyer had found your resource organically (not through a featured placement), you would only pay the standard platform fee with no advertising fee.

Another example at a lower rate: You sell a $15 resource with your featured rate set to 5%.

• Buyer pays $15
• Gateway fee is deducted as usual
• BuiltByBit takes $1.49 as the standard 9.9% platform fee
• BuiltByBit takes $0.75 as the 5% advertising fee
• You receive the remainder

Ad credit balance priority

If you have ad credits on your account (for example, from an Ultimate subscription or from a promotional offer) then those credits are always used first to cover your advertising fee before any amount is deducted from your sale earnings.

Example: You have $5 in ad credits, sell a $50 resource, and your rate is 15% (so the advertising fee is $7.50).

• BuiltByBit takes $4.95 from the sale as the standard 9.9% platform fee
• BuiltByBit deducts $5.00 from your ad credit balance toward the $7.50 advertising fee
