For moderation, security and retention purposes, all products sold through our resources system need to be uploaded directly to BuiltByBit rather than distributed through external links. Occasionally, a resource might benefit from the licensed user downloading a portion of the product manually, and downloading other assets associated with the product programmatically, perhaps as part of a DRM system. To support this, we provide the option to upload these assets within the “Advanced” tab of your resource and download them utilising our API. Assets downloaded through our API also benefit from access to our Anti-piracy Placeholders allowing creators to identify and report when those assets have been redistributed without authorisation.
To publish a new asset, navigate to the “Advanced” tab of the resource you’d like the asset to be made available to and “Create asset”, specifying the oldest version of your resource the asset is compatible with. When a request is made for your asset, the resource version the user is running will be automatically detected and used to deliver the most recent compatible asset for their version.
For making an API request for your asset, refer to our Ultimate API documentation for instructions on authenticating your request. Documentation for the API Assets endpoint is also provided there.
